TVT stands for Tension-free Vaginal tape (TVT) and Abbrevo is the name given to this variety of tape by its manufacturer. The purpose of a TVT Abbrevo procedure is to treat the condition with which you have been diagnosed, namely, stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
How does a TVT sling work?
TVT is a minimally invasive procedure that involves the placement of a small piece of polypropylene mesh (tape) around the pubic bones underneath the urethra. The urethra is the tube through which urine passes from the bladder to the outside of the body.
Is it normal to leak urine after bladder sling surgery?
You also may have some vaginal spotting for up to 1 month. This is normal. You should have less or no urine leakage when you sneeze, cough, laugh, or exercise. In fact, at first you may find that it is harder than usual to empty your bladder.
