Is 404 being phased out?

R404A can be used until the end of 2019 but production levels are decreasing rapidly with price and availability becoming a big issue for end users. Recovered or reclaimed R404a can be used until the end of 2030, then all replacement R404a will be banned.

Can you top off 404A?

If you rely on equipment that uses R404a refrigerant, you could be impacted by new regulations that come into force from 1st January 2020. If your equipment contains over 10.2kg of R404a refrigerant, it is no longer permitted to refill/top it up with fresh (virgin) R404a gas.
