Is Charlestown coast path open?
January 2021: Cornwall Council has temporarily closed part of the South West Coast Path between Duporth and Charlestown. This is for public safety reasons and cliff erosion.
Can you walk along the beach from Bowleaze Cove to Weymouth?
This 2.5-mile coastal walk takes you over the cliffs from Bowleaze Cove in Weymouth to the historic Smugglers Inn at Osmington Mills. A short walk ending at a fantastic pub with a huge beer garden and a beach next door – what more could you want?!

Most of it (70%) is public footpath. While the Wales Coast Path, opened in May 2012, was primarily developed for walkers, the Assembly Government encouraged the inclusion of cyclists on a number of sections. Around one third of it is available for cycling.

Where does SW Coast Path start and end?
Starting at Minehead in Somerset it runs along the coastline of Exmoor, continuing along the coast of North Devon into Cornwall. It follows the entire coastline of Cornwall, goes across the mouth of the River Tamar and continues into Devon.
How long would it take to walk the coast of the UK?
I was hooked and wanted to commit to the coast for a prolonged period. My walk around mainland Britain totalled 6,835 miles and took 454 days over five years.
How long would it take to drive the coast of UK?
It takes around 15 or 16 hours to drive the 837 miles (1347 km) across Great Britain from Land’s End to John o’Groats. But in practice, it’s of course not that simple. No-one wants to drive for 16 hours without stopping. And no journey is ever free of traffic or any other pesky disruptions.
What happened to West Dorset’s South West Coast Path?
A 90m-long surface crack has appeared along a clifftop in West Dorset, prompting the surrounding path to be closed. A 200-metre section of the South West Coast Path near West Bay has now been closed to the public, after the damage grew over time due to ‘unstable cliffs’.
Why is the south west coast path closed in Cornwall?

Why is the south west coast path at Dawlish closed?
A short section of the South West Coast Path that follows the sea wall at Dawlish will be temporarily closed to enable Network Rail to carry out construction work for the railway line. The closure is in place for up to six months from Monday 7th September.
Why is the south west coast path closed at Upton?
Dec 2019: Cornwall Council has closed a short section of the South West Coast Path National Trail at Upton, located between Bude and Widemouth Bay. This is due to instability of the cliff. A new route is in place following a public bridleway and a pavement alongside Marine Drive.
