    What is a divergent duct?

    What is a divergent duct?

divergent duct. A duct, or passage, whose cross-sectional area increases in the direction of fluid flow. When fluid flows through a divergent duct at a subsonic rate, its velocity decreases, and its pressure increases.

What is convergent and divergent duct?

A duct that has a decreasing cross section in the direction of fluid flow is convergent, until a minimum area is reached. Thereafter, the cross section increases, or becomes divergent.

    What is a converging duct?

convergent duct (convergent nozzle) A duct or nozzle for which the cross-sectional area decreases with downstream distance. For subsonic flow, the velocity increases with distance, whereas for supersonic flow it decreases and the nozzle acts as a diffuser…. …

Why diverging section of Venturi is long?

The divergent cone of the Venturi meter is made longer with a gradual divergence so that the flow separation and the consequent energy loss is minimum. Explanation: The divergent part of a Venturi meter is longer than the convergent part to avoid flow separation.

How does a convergent-divergent nozzle work?

This nozzle configuration is called a convergent-divergent, or CD, nozzle. In a CD nozzle, the hot exhaust leaves the combustion chamber and converges down to the minimum area, or throat, of the nozzle. The throat size is chosen to choke the flow and set the mass flow rate through the system.

    What is divergent nozzle?

A de Laval nozzle (or convergent-divergent nozzle, CD nozzle or con-di nozzle) is a tube which is pinched in the middle, making a carefully balanced, asymmetric hourglass shape.

What is the normal range of converging cone of angle of a venturimeter?

    around 15-25 degree
The cone angle of converging section is around 15-25 degree and that of diverging section is around 5-8 degree. This cone angle of diverging section is kept small to avoid flow separation. It’s present in almost all flow-related areas. Convergent side 15 to 20 and divergent side 5 to 7 in venturi meter.

    What is venturimeter constant?

C is called the venturi meter constant and depends upon the geometric parameter of the given venturi meter. K is called the discharge coefficient. Since the cross-sectional area of the throat is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the inlet section.

What are converging diverging nozzles used for?

Convergent-divergent type of nozzles are mostly used for supersonic flows because it is impossible to create supersonic flows (mach number more than one) in convergent type of nozzle and therefore it restricts us to a limited amount of mass flow through a particular nozzle.

What is the dictionary definition of diverging?

Define diverging. diverging synonyms, diverging pronunciation, diverging translation, English dictionary definition of diverging. v. di·verged , di·verg·ing , di·verg·es v. intr. 1. To go or extend in different directions from a common point; branch out: “All modern species diverged…

Why is the diverging section of a nozzle contoured?

Often, the diverging section is contoured to direct more of the flow rearward to increase efficiency as the components of velocity orthogonal to the axis of the nozzle are ineffective. From: Encyclopedia of Physical Science and Technology (Third Edition), 2003

Can statins trigger an autoimmune disease?

Although statins are generally considered safe, recent data from long-term follow-up on patients who are on statins for long duration suggest that prolonged exposure to statins may trigger autoimmune reactions.

What blood tests check for statin damage?

Your doctor will carry out a blood test to measure a substance in your blood called creatine kinase (CK), which is released into the blood when your muscles are inflamed or damaged. If the level of CK in your blood is more than 5 times the normal level, your doctor may advise you to stop taking the statin.

Do statins weaken the immune system?

In addition to reducing cholesterol, statins also lower levels of inflammation in the body. Reducing inflammation probably helps statins to prevent heart attack and stroke. However, evidence is emerging that these statin effects may also have a downside, hindering the ability of the immune system to fight infections.

    Do statins destroy muscle?

MYTH: Statins destroy muscle tissue. “Most studies show that very few patients actually stop taking statins due to side effects. It’s extraordinarily rare to get a more serious condition of muscle breakdown called rhabdomyolysis.”
