While the addition of football is a big deal for the institution and the Valley, the other opportunities, including women’s swimming and diving and pep band, that will also be added will allow more UTRGV students to be involved in athletics.

The Swimming Club at UTRGV invites all students interested in swimming to come and join us at the Health and Physical Education Bldg. 1. We will help you learn how to swim and improve your technique. Our members are very passionate about this sport and all skill levels are very welcome.
Is UTRGV getting a football team?
In Fall 2021, UTRGV students voted to pass a referendum to increase the intercollegiate athletics fee by $11.25 per credit hour. This fee increase will enhance the UTRGV experience by expanding spirit programs and establishing marching bands, football, and women’s swimming & diving programs.
