What is SlowCheetah?
This package allows you to automatically transform your app. config (or any file) when you press F5 in Visual Studio. You can have different transformations based on the build configuration. This will enable you to easily have different app settings, connection strings, etc for Debug versus Release.
How do you enable Add Config Transform?
To make the option “add config transform” available follow these steps:
- Make sure you have enabled to Show Hidden Files.
- Open configuration manager for the Solution.
- Pick the relevant Solution config, then in the dropdown next to your project pick or and add, remove or edit what Project configs you want.

- Unload the project.
- Edit .csproj.
- Append figure 1 to the end of the file just before ; v12.0 my change depending on your version of Visual Studio.
- Save .csproj and reload.
- Open configuration manager.
- Add a new Configuration Name: Base.
- Copy the contents of your web.config.

Where does SlowCheetah install to?
All the functionality is installed to %LOCALAPPDATA%\\Microsoft\\MSBuild\\SlowCheetah\\v1\\ and lives in a standard MSBuild .targets file. You don’t even need the plugin if you are installing this on a build server, just copy the files or even check them in with your source and refer to them in your project or MSBuild files.
