What is a hidradenocarcinoma?
Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare tumor caused by the abnormal growth of cells in a sweat gland. It is a type of cancer that usually begins as a single spot (lesion) on the skin of the head or neck, but can be been found on other parts of the body.
What causes Porocarcinoma?
Porocarcinoma is a rare sort of skin cancer developing from sweat glands, specifically, it is a malignancy of the eccrine sweat glands [1]. Its etiology is not well understood. However, some studies have showed that the tumor developed from a pre-existing eccrine poroma.
Is Porocarcinoma melanoma?
Porocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the eccrine or apocrine gland that usually presents clinically as a firm erythematous to violaceous nodule or verrucous plaque ranging in size from 0.4 cm to 20.0 cm with an average of 2.2 cm (Figure 1).
Is Porocarcinoma genetic?
While in poromas only few cases showed single mutated genes, porocarcinomas showed greater genetic heterogeneity with up to six mutated genes per case. Recurrent TP53 mutations were found in all porocarcinomas that harboured mutated genes.
How is eccrine poroma treated?
Excision is typically the treatment of choice, but cryosurgery has also been used successfully [9]. Jo et al. [10] reported a case of imiquimod 5% cream to treat a poroma, resulting in clearance within 4 weeks.
What does Hidradenocarcinoma look like?
Hidradenocarcinoma may also resemble primary carcinomas from the breast, salivary glands, and lungs [10]. Hidradenocarcinoma and clear cell hidradenoma may also mimic metastatic clear cell carcinomas including thyroid, lungs, or renal cell carcinomas.
What is the pathophysiology of cutaneous Hidradenocarcinoma?
Dear editor, Cutaneous hidradenocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm, originating from the eccrine sweat glands, and corresponding to 6% of the eccrine malignant tumors. It presents as a solitary, asymptomatic, slow-growing skin lesion, and may take an aggressive clinical course, with lymph node involvement and distant metastases.1, 2

Sweat gland carcinoma is a rare malignancy and the United States reported an incidence of around 0.05% [17]. Primary eccrine carcinomas are rare tumours and make up less than 0.01% of all skin cancers [18, 19].
