Is first strike affected by Deathtouch?
Deathtouch changes the rules for assignment of combat damage and there’s a state-based action that cares about creatures being dealt damage from a source with Deathtouch. In combat, creatures with first strike and double strike get to strike in the first combat damage step.
How does First Strike and Deathtouch work together?
Deathtouch and first strike don’t really stack, they just are. A creature can have any number of static abilities. When your creature deals combat damage in the first strike damage step, it will kill its blocker because of deathtouch. The blocker won’t be around in the normal combat damage step to assign damage.
Does creatures with first strike beat Deathtouch?
First strike indicates that damage is dealt before the other creature, and deathtouch says that any amount of damage dealt is enough to kill a creature. So my reaction was to say that the first striker would kill the death toucher before it could do any death touching.
Do you get priority between first strike and normal damage?
