The best way to deal with him is to freeze him or stun him using the Agony Crossbow. This gives you plenty of time to then light him up with the rifle, shotgun or some Harpoon Bolts. After taking so much damage, he will transform. He is a bit slower now, but you still shouldn’t stand still for to long.
