In the summer, Wetherill Mesa is fully staffed and both cliff dwellings (Step House and Long House) are open. Step House is open for self-guided tours and Long House is open for ranger-guided tours.

To get there, you need to drive down from the beginning of the top of Chapin Mesa into the ravine between them, and back up again, so it is not quick. It is a narrow, winding road that is closed from October to May. Vehicles longer than 25 feet are not permitted on the road to Wetherill Mesa.
