What is Talicia used to treat?
This product is used to treat H. pylori infection in the stomach. H. pylori can cause stomach problems such as ulcers.
How long does it take for Talicia to work?
How long do I have to take Talicia? It only takes 14 days of treatment to result in high rates of cure. You may feel better before the end of the 14 days, however, just because symptoms are gone does not mean that H. pylori has been completely killed.
How long is Talicia treatment?
Adults—4 capsules every 8 hours per day for 14 days, to be taken with food. Each capsule of Talicia® contains 12.5 milligrams (mg) of rifabutin, 250 mg of amoxicillin, and 10 mg of omeprazole. Children—Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
Is there a generic for Talicia?

Is Talicia an antibiotic?
Talicia is made up of 2 antibiotics (amoxicillin and rifabutin) and 1 proton pump inhibitor (omeprazole). The antibiotics work in tandem to kill the bacteria, while the proton pump inhibitor reduces acid in the stomach, making the antibiotics more effective.

How is Talicia taken?
Instruct patients to swallow the TALICIA capsules whole, with a full glass of water (8 ounces). Each dose (4 capsules) of TALICIA includes rifabutin 50 mg, amoxicillin 1,000 mg and omeprazole 40 mg. Do not crush or chew TALICIA capsules. Do not take TALICIA with alcohol.
Is Talicia FDA approved?
Talicia is the first and only FDA approved rifabutin-based H. pylori therapy. It is designed to address the problem of growing H. pylori resistance to clarithromycin.
