How do I download custom maps for StarCraft?
In Starcraft 2 all the published maps on Battle.net is up and ready to be played, the maps are on the actual server. So if you want to download new Multi-player maps you first go to the Multi-player menu. Then just click at CREATE A GAME in the Multi-player menu. Then they have a box which says “Search by name”.

How do I download Starcraft Brood War maps?
You would have to manually place them into your starcraft map folder though. You can also download them by joining a game. Once you have joined the game, the map should have been downloaded into your “download” folder. You can ask the chat lobbies for a specific map if you don’t find it on the internet//game’s list.

Some missing maps and newer maps come from Iccup, TLPD, broodwarmaps.net and scmaps.net. Sadly it shows the massive decline in new maps in the post KeSPA era.
