Kebony is Real Wood Kebony is high-quality, real Monterey Pine. No composite and 100% organic. Kebony decking is produced from sustainably sourced lumber and the only addition is a bio-based liquid that, when added to the wood fibers, enhances and strengthens the wood’s cell structure.

Developed in Norway, Kebony is an environmentally friendly, patented process that enhances the properties of sustainable softwood with a bio-based liquid. The process permanently modifies the wood cell walls, giving Kebony premium hardwood characteristics and a rich brown color throughout in two basic steps.

Kebony is a high-performance wood modified by Kebonization, a process that impregnates wood with furfuryl alcohol, a byproduct of the sugar industry. The wood is heated to the point that the alcohol polymerizes, increasing the density of the wood to make it harder.
