Can you rock climb in Joshua Tree?

Having heard that Joshua Tree is a bouldering haven but that the routes are notoriously sandbagged (harder than their rating indicates), we spent quite some time scouring Mountain Project for beginner routes. For reference, at our peak my partner and I climbed about V4 and V3 indoors, respectively.

Climbing a 5.10 is a solid intermediate step that puts any climber in good company. It requires above average fitness and an understanding of basic techniques. Up to a 5.8 is considered beginner, 5.9-5.10d is intermediate, 5.11 to 5.12d is hard, and 5.13+ is elite.
Do you need a permit to climb in Joshua Tree?
A permit is not required for day hiking in the backcountry. To backcountry camp, you must park and register at a backcountry registration board. There is no fee. Your registration is your permit.
Where can I climb boulders in Joshua Tree?
The beginner climbs (5.2) are located in the West Face, while the North Face offers slightly harder routes (5.4). The North and South end of The Blob offer easy descents. These three routes should be enough to give novice climbers some awesome experiences.
Can you climb in Joshua Tree in the summer?
Yes, that’s right! We do guide climbing tours in the summer months at Joshua Tree National Park. Weather conditions are not as hot as outside the park and there are plenty of shaded walls to have fun without the crowds that overwhelm the park in the winter months.
