What does VVTli mean?
VVT-i, or Variable Valve Timing with intelligence, is an automobile variable valve timing technology developed by Toyota. The Toyota VVT-i system replaces the Toyota VVT offered starting in 1991 on the 5-valve per cylinder 4A-GE engine. The VVT system is a 2-stage hydraulically controlled cam phasing system.
Is the 2ZZ reliable?
The biggest issue with 2zz engines were the early engines had a problem with their oil pumps so see if it has a new engine or a new pump. As far as reliability, make sure they have had regular oil changes because it has a timing chain and it’s really expensive to fix if it ran without regular oil changes.

Is 2ZZ better than 1ZZ?
A used 2ZZ is cheaper than building the 1ZZ. It will make more torque everywhere, and will make the same power at lower boost which means it will be more reliable, less knock prone etc. It also has a much higher redline which means you can stretch each gear to a higher speed which means the car is much faster overall.

What is better VVT-i or non VVT-i?
Basically so far the pro’s of the vvti are that it makes more torque at half the rpm compared to the non vvti, it’s a newer engine so less wear and already comes single turbo.
Is 1ZZ-FE a good engine?
