Loch Raven Reservoir is located just north of the Baltimore Beltway and its watershed occupies almost the entire central portion of Baltimore County. Small parts of Western Harford County and Southern York County, Pennsylvania also drain into this watershed.
Can you swim Loch Raven Reservoir?
In addition to picnic areas and hiking trails, Loch Raven Reservoir is the perfect location for fishing, and small fishing boats are available for rent. The reservoir provides drinking water and therefore, swimming is not allowed.
Why is Loch Raven Drive closed?
Loch Raven Drive, which is located in the Loch Raven Reservoir, was closed between Morgan Mill Road and Providence Road back in August, 2020 due to a failed culvert. Repair work performed by the Baltimore City Department of Public Works is now complete and the roadway is now open to through traffic.
Is Loch Raven Drive open?
Note that Loch Raven Drive, between Providence Road and Morgan Mill Road, is closed to vehicles year-round on Saturday and Sunday between 10am and 5pm. During those times, the road is open to walkers, runners, and bikers. This is not the case during Covid-19.

Today, nothing can be seen, but the bridge across the reservoir on Warren Road is old and interesting architecturally.
