Compared to IGETC, CSU G.E./Breadth is more flexible and offers more choices in many of the areas. Students transferring to most CSUs can double count their Social Science or Humanities and American Institutions if using the pattern. IGETC does not allow this.

How do I get a CSU or IGETC certification?
Students who are required to submit verification of the completion of the CSU and/or IGETC General Education pattern to their transfer institution may request a CSU or IGETC certification through the Counseling Center. Due to the continued effects of COVID-19, students will NOT be dismissed for Fall 2021.
Can I submit a partial IGETC certification?
Students should verify that their UC school/college/major program will accept partial certification. If you submit a partial IGETC certification, you’ll need to meet with a counselor in your UC college or school to determine how you will complete the missing courses.
