Are fetch lands good in Commander?
Fetch lands are pricey, but they are really good with duals. Fetch lands make your mana base so much smoother. You have more choices for lands to fetch, and dual lands with basic land types on them are amazing to have in a deck with fetch lands.
How many fetches should a commander deck have?
As for how many to include, 4-color decks should play 10 fetchlands, 6 dual lands, and 6 shocklands. 3-color decks should play 9 fetchlands, 3 dual lands, and 3 shock lands. 2-color decks should play 7 fetch lands, 1 dual land, and 1 shock land.
Why are fetches good?
Except a fetch land can get one of two different types. There is no guarantee that you would draw the color you need, but a fetch can fix your mana as well. In older formats, you can get Shock lands (Modern) or ABUR duals (Legacy / Vintage), which provide 2 colors, only 1 which has to match your fetch.
How many fetches are in a modern deck?
The general rule of thumb is 8 fetches for any 3 color deck with an overlap of your strongest colors. In Grixis for example, it is very common to run 4 Scalding Tarn and 4 Polluted Delta because Island is the most important land you need to get.
Can you put fetch lands in any deck?
Yes, you can use all ten fetches in any commander deck because there are no mana symbols in the text of the card that are outside your commander’s color identity (or any mana symbols at all for that matter).
Can Evolving Wilds fetch Triomes?
You can not fetch a Triome with Evolving Wilds. “Basic” is a card supertype.
How many fetches should I run?
Running them for 2 and 3, however, is very acceptable and is done a lot. Even in monocolour decks. I wouldn’t run them all, or otherwise you end up with 9 fetches in a 3-colour deck, which isn’t very handy unless you intend on using landfall or really need the fixing.
What lands can fetch lands get?
There are five Onslaught fetch lands:
- Windswept Heath.
- Flooded Strand.
- Polluted Delta.
- Bloodstained Mire.
- Wooded Foothills.
Why are fetch lands?
Fetch lands are lands that can be sacrificed to search their controller’s library for a land of a specific basic land type.
Can you fetch shock lands?
In Modern and Eternal formats, exploiting fetch lands to find “dual lands” (e.g., Tundra) or “shock lands” (e.g., Sacred Foundry) is incredibly useful for getting the color of mana you need. For example, Windswepth Heath will be able to grab you any card with the subtype Forest OR Plains.
What can I get with a fetch land?
Fetch lands are incredibly good because they fix your mana, can get basic or dual lands, provide a shuffle effect, and generate two landfall triggers.
Can Evolving Wilds fetch dual lands?
Nope. Evolving wilds says basic land.
