Do you need a pass to hike Peralta Trail?
Peralta Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the Superstition Mountains. To access the trail, take the mostly unpaved Peralta Road about 7 miles off of highway 60 near Gold Canyon. Although there are signs along the road indicating a Tonto Pass is required, the trailhead parking lot signs said no pass was needed.
How difficult is Peralta Trail?
It is a gentle, yet continuous, uphill hike with plenty of switchbacks and a few spots where loose rock makes footing a little slick. Most of the elevation is towards the end. It is harder coming down than going up, but is overall a great hike. Park at the Peralta Trailhead parking lot, at the end of Peralta Road.
