Dogs travel free on our three ferry routes linking the Isle of Wight to the south coast – when accompanied by a well-behaved owner. On a clear day, they can amble on the car ferries’ outer decks and when the weather is not so good they can enjoy the short crossing inside the ferries’ dedicated pet areas.

Can I take dogs on a ferry?
Not all ferries offer both services, and there is typically a charge for either option. Foot passengers can struggle, as many ferry operators will expect you to contain your dog in a suitable (RSPCA-approved) pet carrier during the journey. For owners of large-breed dogs this may be a considerable inconvenience.
Can a foot passenger take a dog on a ferry?
Pets (small dog, cat or ferret) are permitted to travel with foot passengers, but they must be transported to and from the ferry in a secure, rigid and appropriate pet cage or box (please bring your own).

If a dog fouls the passenger accommodation or passenger gangways, a cleaning charge of £50 will be levied on the owner. Failure to pay this penalty to the Cabin Attendant or adhere to the Policy may result in our refusal to permit travel in future.

Are Dogs Allowed on East Cowes ferry?
On the Southampton < > East Cowes service, dogs are only permitted on the outside decks (Decks A & AA) and in the designated pet lounges on the upper ‘A Deck’. Dogs must keep off seats or and must not obstruct the emergency exists.
