Best way to start a narrative essay/ tips or ideas?
I’m supposed to write about an experience I’ve had with writing. And I’m going to write a story about a letter I wrote to my mom when I was in second grade. I just found it 12 years later after I wrote it.
I think I’d house the telling of that tale in your current point-of-view, instead of just jumping into second grade POV. Maybe start with the experience of finding the letter, which will give you a chance to build in some early details, and then dive into the second grade self POV. A story within a story.
But, since you’re the storyteller for this one, I think you should ultimately tell it how you feel it so the readers feel it like you do, which is what makes stories really work well–firing mirror neurons from afar. Have fun and good luck!
