You need a business plan just to have a plan at all.
No one walks into a store and thinks about “I want to start a business” while walking the aisles. You need a plan to start a business, with the right company to go with it.
You want a business plan to help you grow your business, to help you identify all you need to know to start your business.
How to Get a Business Plan
First, you want to make sure you have a solid plan of action already in mind, before you even start putting pen to paper.
If you don’t, you’re probably going to make it harder on yourself when you start figuring out what steps you should take to get a business plan.
That’s why I make a business plan an annual task because I get a new business plan every year for The Starter Your First Real Job guide. To make it easy for you, I’ll break it down and show you some options to get your business plan in a matter of minutes.
I’ll even give you all the links that I use to get my business plans in a few easy steps.
Step 1: Create a list of what you want to do, and who you want to do it for.
Before you even start your research on getting a business plan, you need to write down what you know already about the business and who you want to do it for.
Then, figure out who is the right person to help you with this:

If you’re reading this because you are just thinking to yourself about getting a business plan, you should start here.
Let me show you how to create a list of what you want to do, and who you want to do it for. All right, it requires a bit of work but when you do it, you’ll have a list ready to go right in front of you.
In the above image, you can see what to write down if you are just thinking to yourself about getting a business plan. You can see that the first item on the list is “Who I want to do it for”.
Next is “What I want to do is for”. I wrote this so you’ll know that the people who will help you with your business should be people you trust.
Next is the next item on the list, “What would I do if I was given a business plan”. I’ve also added a checkbox here so you can tick the box if you want a business plan for everyone who will help you with your business.
Finally, there is a check box to tick for “I am a beginner”. We’ll come back to this later.
Now, let’s take it into the world and see what kinds of people will help your business.
Step 2: Check your list of people to check off you will work with
This next step can be tricky, but I’m going to show you how it can be done. All you need to do is to do some research.
