C. Discuss the idea of education as a theme in the books we’re read. How do chcharacters learn?
How has the idea of what education means changed over time?
A Man of the People
just need some feedback to help me get the essay started. I’m having some writers block so inspiration would be greatly appreciated.
Generally people learn by one of three modes: Visual, aural, or kinesthetic
A visual learner like to see pictures/diagrams or text descriptions..
An aural learner prefers to hear someone describe the concepts, likes the lecture method
A kinesthetic learner wants to get hands-on experience, to practice doing something.
Most of us are a mixture of the three, and if we want to absorb something completely, it is best to engage all three methods. When I was in school, I would take lecture notes (aural), then transcribe the notes into the computer and print them out for review later, using a yellow highlighter for the important stuff (visual), then I would go to the skills lab or the language lab or the chem lab and use my hands to go over the material that way (kinesthetic).
I also tutored my fellow students and ran review sessions. This really helped internalize the material.
So in your reading selections, how does the hero/heroine learn? Does someone lecture them? Do they see what they need to learn? Do they make mistakes and learn from their mistakes? Do they try to communicate what they have learned with others?
