Can anyone draw conclusions from this poem? I need it to start off a college essay. Any thoughts???
Words- so innocent and powerless as they are, as standing in a dictionary, how potent for good and evil they become in the hands of one who knows how to combine them.
It is basically just saying a word by itself has no power, just a definition … but when they are put together to form sentences and thoughts, such as by a talented author, then they have meaning … this meaning can move people in a good or bad way – the more talented the author, the stronger and more potent the effect; they can hurt a person’s feelings, tear down a person’s self-esteem, bring a tear to a new mother’s eyes describing the beauty of a newborn, unite a nation in a time of tragedy, etc …
