QUESTION
Can someone help me start a satire on school uniforms. I have no idea how to do it.?
I really need help with this

ANSWER
Sure, I love satirical writing.

Satire is supposed to be biting, sometimes mean, and make a point. You know the Colbert Report? That’s all satire. Colbert isn’t really an thickheaded Republican. He pretends to be as a way of making fun of Republicans.

So to apply that knowledge to an essay on school uniforms. You want to write about uniforms as if in praise of them, but your points should be obviously ludicrous, so the reader knows you mean the opposite. For instance, one of your points may be…

“School uniforms eliminate the students’ need for personal expression. By facilitating the conformity of all students, the school will be rid of such asinine notions as individuality and character, and the student body will present a united singularity similar to the constituents of such notable leaders as Adolf Hilter and Joseph Stalin.”

Your point is that uniforms eliminate individuality. You say that in your writing, but you make it sound like a good thing. By praising infamously evil men like Hilter and Stalin, you make it clear that you’re speaking sarcastically, at the same time as equating the school uniform with badness.
