Do you need to be in the IB program in Highschool To qualify for Cambridge University?

QUESTION
Do you need to be in the IB program in Highschool To qualify for Cambridge University?
I am in 8th grade and I aspire to go to Cambridge but now I need to choose a high school, IB program at the public high school or a private high school. I can go to either but what would help my dream come true? I heard they don’t even look at SAT or ACT

ANSWER
I am currently enrolled in the IB Programme, and if you wish to attend Cambridge than you definitely need to take the Programme. Admittance into Cambridge will be based on your IB results, in that you sit for the IB exam at the end of your senior year, and the scores of the results for your six subjects are combined, as well as I think 3 point for both Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay.

You should check with the school to see what courses they offer. In addition, for a school like Cambridge you will probably not only need a combined score of at least 39, but to demonstrate the interest you have in your intended major outside of class.

Best of luck!

I would strongly recommend you take the IB programme. Even if you change your mind and decide not to go for Cambridge, the IB will still be a great resource wherever you choose to apply.
