Your rank order list must be certified by the March 2nd deadline! If you haven’t done so, it will not be entered into the Main Residency Match system. (Note: You can still change your ROL after certifying it, so long as it’s still before the deadline; however, you must make sure to then re-certify it afterwards.)

What is the Residency Rank Order List? Your ROL is essentially a list of residency programs that you would be happy to become a part of. The list is ranked in order of preference, from your most desired to least desired program (yet, you must only include programs you would want to attend).

- Step 3: Add Programs.
- Step 1: Click the orange “Certify List” button.
- Step 2: Read over the Summary.

Can you change rank order list after certifying?
You can keep modifying even after you certify, but there is a catch:Yes, your rank order list can be modified or re-ordered any number of times until 9:00 p.m. eastern time on the Rank Order List Certification Deadline, but no additions, deletions, or changes can be made to your rank order list after the deadline.
How many interviews do I need to match?
The probability of matching is related to the number of contiguous ranks. For allopathic and osteopathic senior medical students, the probability of matching is 80% at around 6–7 contiguous ranks and becomes > 95% at around 11–12. Therefore, the typical applicant should aim for 11–12 interviews.
When can Programs See eras?
MSPEs are released to programs by ERAS. Programs can begin accessing applications at 9:00 a.m., Eastern Time in the United States.
Will Match Day 2022 be virtual?
Friday of Match Week: Match Day (March 18) Most medical schools hold their own Match Day ceremonies at this time—although in the midst of COVID-19, they will likely be virtual this year.
What happens when you certify rank list?
The “Certify List” button in the R3 system prompts applicants to enter their unique R3 system password to confirm certification. By certifying a ROL, applicants are entering a binding commitment to train at any program with which they match.
Can you change rank list after deadline?
Yes. You can make changes to a Rank Order List that has been certified at any time prior to the Rank Order List deadline. If you make changes to a list after it has been certified, you simply have to certify the list again before the deadline in order for it to be used in the Match.
How many times can you certify rank list?
No more than 300 ranks can be placed on any ROL. If a rank order list is certified with more than 20 ranks, extra fees will be due at the time of certification. Extra rank fees are NOT REFUNDABLE if a shorter list is certified at a later time. ROLs must be saved after each change.
What is the deadline for rank order list entry?
Feb. 1: Rank order list entry opens at 12 p.m. ET. Medical schools start verification for student/graduate graduation credentials. March 2: Rank order list deadline. Applicants must have their rank order lists certified by 9 p.m. ET. This is also the deadline for the following: March 14: NRMP Match Week begins.
