For those who actually prepared for the ACT, what was your score?

QUESTION
For those who actually prepared for the ACT, what was your score?
I asked many of my friends if they had prepared for the ACT test, and almost majority said little to no preparing at all. A lot of them had received a 28+ composite, and sadly I only received a 20 with little preparing also. Scoring a 28+ without prep is amazing, well for me atleast it is(considering that i got a 20 with about the same preparation for those who received 28+)

For those who received a high score, how did you do it? Im hoping to get a high score for the next test, but it will be impossible to jump up about 8 points.

ANSWER
I didn’t prepare specifically for the ACT, but I did prepare for and take the SAT, which is almost the same. Does that count? I got a 35 (not counting my horrible essay grade… I’m not sure how to factor that in. I feel like it would bring my grade down one or two points though.)

If you didn’t prepare, I bet your problem was just test-taking skill, in which case it’d be so easy to raise your score! Is there a particular section you’re struggling with? Strategies vary for every section, so that stuff matters. And in general, the best way to prep is practice tests :). After you’re done with a practice test, ALWAYS go back and figure out the questions you got wrong. Figure out why you got it wrong and how to solve the question the right way, so that by the time you’re done reviewing a practice test, you know how to do every single question on it. I only took 2 practice tests worth of sections, but I spent a really long time reviewing each one.
