QUESTION
How do you do a compare and contrast essay?
I have to compare and contrast movie and a book, and I have to set it up like this:

Movie:
A. This detail has to compare to detail A of book
B. This detail has to compare to detail B of book
C. This detail has to compare to detail C of book
Book:
A. This detail has to compare to detail A of movie
B. This detail has to compare to detail B of movie
C. This detail has to compare to detail C of movie

and that’s one paragraph! ^
I have to have TWO MORE paragraph like that, but i’m not entirely sure how to word everything, i’ve never done a compare and contrast essay and so i dont know how it works out how am i suppose to refrence back to one another in the paragraphs?

ANSWER
I recently had to do this for the past 2 years at A level so I’m quite familiar with doing tonnes of these essays.

Ok, i take it that ALL AB&C are related (eg. Same topic?)

I’ll give you an example- say the topic is relationships between a parent & child- you would compare the similarities the book & movie have in presenting this topic. And you’d also contrast – which means the Differences.

It’s quite hard for me to explain to you because I don’t know the topic/what it is for.

I’ll give you some advice though, when writing compare/contrast essays you will need to use words such as “WHEREAS.. In the movie..” “In contrast to…” “In comparison to” “like *media 1” etc…

I’m sorry it isn’t very thorough and easily explained but I hope it helped!
