The Museum’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved a pause on playing together, extending Please Touch Museum’s temporary closure into 2021.

The History The museum was dedicated to a hands-on learning environment that would make learning fun for young children. The museum opened in Philadelphia for the Bicentennial celebration and was originally located in a small area within the Academy of Natural Sciences.

Approaching 50 years of Founded in 1976 by Montessori educator Portia Sperr, Please Touch Museum began as a 2,200-square-foot pilot project nestled among the dinosaur skeletons and woolly mammoths in the Academy of Natural Sciences on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
