how to write a good college essay?
so this is what it says…….please tell us about the particular life experiences, perspectives, talents, commitments and or interests you will bring to our campus?
the other statement says,
tell us about ur academic goals, circumstances that may have had an impact on ur academic performance and in general anything else you would like us to know in making an admission decision.
so how do i go about writing these 2 statements/essay? i don’t know what to do and where to start!!!
These seem like straightforward questions, but you’re going to want to write a story for each. In each essay you’re going to want to showcase a different quality – hopefully one that’s not evident in the rest of your application.
For the first prompt, you could either have a few very short stories about some of your biggest accomplishments or focus on one thing. Usually, the more you focus the better your essay will be. What’s unique to you? What is something you can contribute to the college? Once you figure out what it is, find a story that illustrates your strengths in that area.
For the second prompt, you want to make sure you focus on the future. This seems like it’s a chance to explain any missteps, so if you have a concrete reason why your grades slipped one year, for example, you might want to mention it here. However, don’t focus on the past – you can mention it but make sure you tell them how you fixed the problem (or are working on it) and what you will do in the future to prevent it from happening.
It’s hard to give general advice like this without knowing your background or what topics you’re thinking of, so I would suggest you check out these pages for more ideas and information on writing your essay: http://makecollegereality.com/apply/essays.html
