How to write a narrative essay?

QUESTION
How to write a narrative essay?
I need to write a narrative essay for college comparing three films by Kathryn Bigelow. The 3 films I’ve chosen are ‘The Loveless’, ‘Near Dark’ and ‘K19: The Widowmaker’. Thing is… I have no idea what a narrative essay is or how to write one. Could anyone give me any pointers or tips please?

ANSWER
You need to get started by creating a thesis statement. This will point your reader in the direction of the intent of your essay. Let the reader know that you are going to be comparing the three films and what you are working toward by the end of the essay.
Beyond that, it is somewhat hard to say because you haven’t really given enough detail into what kind of essay you are assigned. Are you writing a persuasive essay on one film being better than the others? A simple opinion essay on the films in general? An essay on the structure and design of the film? Or are you simply supposed to write about each of the three movies with no bias voice?
Regardless of what the intent of the essay is, you should dedicate a portion (likely a paragraph per) to each of the three films. These can either summarize the film briefly, or provide a history of the film or director, etc. Once you have done this, you are ready to touch on your thesis idea again. This is where you bring together the thesis statement and substantiate the portions dedicated to each film. When you have finished this, you are ready to close out your essay by summarizing your thesis statement again and re-emphasizing your stance in the essay.

Good luck, hope this helps
