How to write an outline of a compare and contrast essay?????????????/?
First, you need an introductory paragraph giving background information about the two things, so your audience will be able to follow your argument. Your introductory paragraph is also going to give a summary of what the paper will have in it — you can add this part after you’ve finished, so you know all the things that should be there!
Next, decide whether you think the things are more alike, more different, or have an equal amount of similarities and differences. Your compares will be one paragraph or section, and your contrasts will be another paragraph or section. You should aim to have at least three examples for each. I recommend putting the less important section before the more important section, so you end with your strongest points.
Finally, your conclusion will tell what you learned about the relationship between the two things. That’s where you say what you thought about whether they were more alike or more different. For a good conclusion, restate your best pieces of evidence so they’re fresh in your reader’s mind, and then once you have all the evidence down in one place end with what opinion you formed from that evidence. Done!
