How would I write a narrative essay in third person?

QUESTION
How would I write a narrative essay in third person?
In my English class tommorrow, for a HUGE test, I will have to write a narrative essay, which I have never done. I have to read two passages and then write and essay about it. How would I do this?Do I put myself in the story if its in 3rd person? If its in third persone would I use I or You?

ANSWER
“Third person” means that you will write the essay from the point of view of someone telling a story about other people. For example, if you were writing in “first person,” as if you were telling the story about yourself, you would write “I opened the door, tried to walk into my bedroom, but fell on my face.” If you write in “third person,” telling about someone else, you write “She opened the door, tried to walk into her bedroom, but fell on her face.” You would not use “I” or “you” because those pronouns are from “first person” point of view.
