I am writing a reflective essay and I don’t know how to start it?

QUESTION
I am writing a reflective essay and I don’t know how to start it?
I had to interview a retired teacher and I have no idea how to begin my essay. I asked questions so I have an idea on the body and conclusion, but not how to start it.

ANSWER
Are you talking about a reflection, like what you learned from the interview? I would maybe start with a short story (2-3 sentences) about a teacher you had that you learned a lot from and helped you grow as a person. Then quickly transfer to talking about how important these types of teachers are in the development of lessons and values, and how these types of teachers are found all over the country. Narrow it in to the teacher you interviewed, and what she taught you.

If this doesn’t help at all, think of it this way:
Broad -> narrower -> thesis of paper
Always start with a really broad subject, then narrow it in to your thesis (the point you’re trying to make)
