all bark no bite. . .stock 351’s are not THAT much better, but they are more efficient in low rpm due to their increased stroke, so mileage of 351’s is generally better because it can lug around easier at low engine speed. the 351 i have in my truck (mods in sig) is so much better than the 302.

You can spot the difference pretty easily by looking at the front of the engine. On a 302 (or smaller c.i.d.) blocks, the distributor mount is almost flush with the top of the block (where the intake sits). The water passages are also right at the top of the block (where the heads sit). The image below shows a 302 block.
