Is BT Smart Talk still available?
BT have recently given notice that the calling feature, BT Smart Talk, is to be withdrawn in a month’s time, i.e. January 2019.
What is BT smartalk?
(Pocket-lint) – BT has introduced a new service called BT SmartTalk, which it claims can save you money by offering access to your BT landline tariff for calls placed on your mobile phone. The BT SmartTalk service works through a free app to essentially give you a VoIP (voice over IP) network phone.
What happened BT Smart Talk?
The service was withdrawn on the 19/01/19 and the smart talk information pages state that ‘Any mobile network calls you make after that date will come out of your normal mobile call allowance’.

These include free calls at certain times of the day – it says on your bill what Calling Plan you’re on.
Are BT WiFi calls free?
Charges for calls and texts There’s no change to your regular bill when you use Wi-Fi Calling. Calls and texts come out of your monthly allowance as normal. If you go over your allowances you’ll be charged at standard rates. Calls made using Wi-Fi Calling will not be shown as wi-fi calls on your bill.

Do you get free calls to BT on weekend calls?
You don’t get free calls to BT mobile on weekend calls or the evening and weekend calls addon, It’s only unlimited anytime calls, so the 3 charges are correct and the 4th should of been chargable. Thank you for your reply. BT have just contacted me and agreed to refund the charges for the BT Consumer mobile calls.

How does BT SmartTalk work with freephone?
Freephone numbers, 0845 and 0870 or UK landlines can be selected at will. When you then place a call through the regular dialler app (on Android at least) it will switch to BT SmartTalk when appropriate, which is quite clever.
