Liliana of the Veil is actually pretty good in EDH. The +1 ability hits everyone, so in a multiplayer game you are getting multiple cards out of each activation. In decks where you are paying around with discard triggers, this goes a long way towards making those triggers happen.

What makes her so good however is how well her + and – work together. Her + forces your opponent to play out their hand, so as to have the discard not effect them, but then their – punishes them for playing out single creatures. She also doesn’t require a lot to build around her to make her good.
