NYU Application Essay Help?
I’m currently applying to NYU and writing the supplemental essay questions. I feel like 2 of the questions are very similar and would just like to know someone else’s take on what NYU is looking for in these 2 similar topics. Should I just be general about NYU and not mention my area of study in the first and then more specific in the 2nd? Thanks.
1.) Why NYU?
2.) Regardless of whether or not you have an intended major or concentration, please elaborate on an academic area of interest and how you wish to explore
it at NYU’s campuses in New York or Abu Dhabi or at one of our global academic centers around the world. Please share any activities or experiences you have had that have cultivated your intellectual interests leading you to choose to study at the NYU campus of your choice.
No, in the first part of the essay, talk about NYU and what NYU has to offer. Build them up by saying that they have a great math program (or whatever they specialize in)… just give them compliments indirectly. Stuff like this: “NYU is known for its department of engineering, across the state. Attending NYU will ensure that I have the best education from one of the leading engineering programs on the east coast.” Sorry, can’t come up with anything better. I don’t know the school very well but you get the gist.
In the second part, talk about your area of interest and tie that in with NYU. Tell them how NYU will help you in your studies of whatever you’re interested in.
