ok, in my SAT class, we got onto learning about how to write a good essay and…?
and the topic question of truth came up. all the essays we read that were in the book were about how the truth depends on the persons morals and beliefs.
that makes no sense. how can the truth be different from one person to another? if i think there are aliens out there and you don’t, those are just opinions. once we find proof that there are aliens somewhere out there, it becomes the truth while ur opinion becomes false.
if i throw a pen at you, it won’t change the fact that i threw a pen at you. it is the truth. a fact is true.
someone’s morals and beliefs can’t change that.
This is an interesting point about what is called Truth. Let’s say there is a version of truth, a petty truth, which is what most of us think of as truth. That is what mostly discussion is all about. People talking about matters trying to come to some, shared, common understanding, which serves us all, fairly well. This is really a verbal approach to Truth. It depends on your upbringing, your education, the books you read, your religion, and so on. There is a truth known to man. The question we should be asking is what is Truth; not known, not verbal.
