QUESTION
Please revise my essay The Odyssey?
When you hear the name Odysseus you think of a strong and fearless leader. But even though he is all strong and mighty heroes like him have downfalls. Most of the time you
See Odysseus as a good strong leader but he is very cocky and sometimes a bit dumb in the inside. But putting that aside you can see Odysseus traveling on his 20 year journey back to Itacha handled really well. He has been rewarded from Gods helped by his soldiers on his long journey back home. But even if Odysseus doesn’t do all that great all the time. He is a very excellent leader i mean why else would he be the king of Itacha. But being king calls for big responsibilities, like he commanded his small army on their 20 year journey of getting back home. He has self control for like when he came home and saw all the suitors he didn’t attack right away. He waited for a good time to go and attack. Odysseus is a also a big hero because the gods like Odysseus through his journey. For example when Aeolus puts all the airs into the sack. She understands that his shipmates opened it mistakenly from curiosity. So she still helps him out. Also when Odysseus was going to Calypso’s place a messenger from the heavens comes and give Odysseus help and advice on what to do before entering Calypso’s lair. Most of the gods favor Odysseus as one during his quest of going back to Itacha. He also shows respect for the Gods by making sacrifices to them. For example when Odysseus sacrifices his baby cow and prays at the same time. That just shows his respect for the Gods.
Odysseus also seeks fame. When he escape Polyphemus’s cave he shouted out his name. Which is a basic indicator telling you that Odysseus wants people to know who he is. Odysseus is also a very smart and cunning like when he and his soldiers were stuck in Polyphemus’s cave Odysseus told him that his name was “Nobody”. So then he got Polyphemus’s drunk and they have made him fallen asleep. While he was in deep sleep Odysseus stabs Polyphemus in the eye. Polyphemus then moves the big boulder out of the way to let his sheep escape. Then Odysseus uses his brain and covers all the soldiers in wool to make them feel like sheep passing by. Then this is where Odysseus’s ********* comes out. When the soldiers and Odysseus flee and are on their ship Odysseus
starts to say his real name and where he lives, and he also calls Polyphemus dumb.
We have learned that Odysseus is smart and cunning, loved by gods and one of the most strongest and most fierce warriors. He has overcome many things from defeataing Polyphemus, being a excellent leader, also leading his soldiers on the twenty year long journey back to Itacha. He is one the most told about characters when it comes to bravery, strength, and courage.
