What are MAC Pigments used for?
A highly concentrated loose colour powder that contains ingredients to help it adhere to skin. Create a subtle wash of colour or an intense effect. Easy to blend. Please note: Pigments are sold by weight, not volume.
How long do MAC Pigments last?
Pigments: These can last for 5+ years depending on how you use them. I recommend not using them straight out of the jars (so that bacteria doesn’t get trapped in the main jars).

Use as an eyeshadow You can apply them directly to your eyelid like you would a pressed shadow, or you can mix some of the pigment in with a MAC Mixing Medium (£16) to create a gel or cream shadow. So what is the difference between the two? Eyeshadows contain a mixture of pigments, micas, binders and preservatives to create a creamy smooth formula that is seamless and blends with little effort. Pressed pigments are just as they sound, they are actual pigments pressed into a pan.
Does Mac still accept empty containers?
M.A.C. accepts what they call “primary packaging,” which is the material that the product is encased in. This includes the containers for your favorite M.A.C. products, like Paint Pots, Fix+, Lipglass, and the little Pigment jars.
Are pressed pigments eye safe?
So, to make things clear, pressed pigments could be considered eye-safe, or at least at a similar level as eyeshadows. When you see brands using the term pressed, the product is made of eye pigments that are safe in the EU but have not yet been approved in the USA.

To use, tap pigment into your pigment lid or onto a flat surface and use a cheek highlighter brush to pick up the pigment (don’t forget to tap off the excess!) and sweep along the tops of your cheekbones. Be sure to choose a light colored pigment that complements your skin tone.

How to use pigment powders for manicure nail art
- Perform normal manicure and add gel base coat.
- Apply pigment directly to gel top coat non sticky layer.
- Rub on 1 nail at a time.
- For best results apply it with fingers, or with a silicone brush.
- Apply primer to the edge of the nail after applying last coat of nail powder.
