What college can I get into?

QUESTION
What college can I get into?
I am in my last semester of high school. I have a 3.5 GPA based on the 4.0 scale. I have not taken my SATs or ACTs. Colleges have already accepted lots of my friends and I was planning on going to community college. I now regret this decision big time, what college can I get into on such short notice with (or without, hopefully) SAT scores. I live in Virginia if that helps at all….

ANSWER
Do a college site using a site like Petersons.com. For the record, attending a community college first will save you a lot of money if you then want to transfer to a four year college or university. Many community colleges are affiliated with a four year school so that you know all your credits (and hard work) will transfer.

Colleges look at more than just GPA and your SAT/ACT score. They will also look at your extracurricular activities, your community service, your essay, letter(s) of recommendation, etc. SAT/ACT isn’t always mandatory for entry into school. You’ll have to do a few searches to figure that out, though.

Anyway, you can narrow down your search using your own criteria: location, campus size, etc. What majors are you interested in? Compare that too. Visit the college in person and see what you think. Of course, apply to more than one so you can compare financial aid packages (fill out the FAFSA!) and see who will let you in for less.

The Florida State University system, Mount Holyoke, and the University of Texas are a few I can think of that don’t require an SAT/ACT score. They will look at your class rank.
