What do you think of this question?
There was this essay that I had to take in one of my college classes and it says:
Would you like to step into the happiness box? A place where you could succeed or fullfill your dreams. A place where people could find enjoyment and pleasure in life, where people don’t have to work, sweat, worry, or fear about the possibility of failure. Isn’t that the place that you really want? Isn’t that what you consider happiness?
What do you think?
For me, I chose to say no. It’s kinda hard to explain what I thought about it and why I didn’t want to be in that kind of place.
It’s a trick question. Those are the things most people think they wish they could find in life. So if you say no, but you still want to be happy, then you have to think about maybe happiness isn’t everything, and problems aren’t so bad. That can lead you to the realization that you can be happy even when you have serious problems.
So just saying no is only the first part of what the teacher wants you to say.
If you say yes, then you have to think about whether true happiness can be achieved without pain. Sometimes we are at our happiest when we finally overcome some pain or fear. From there you get back eventually to the same idea that you can be happy even when you have serious problems.
