What is fact 12r carbon?
It uses the highest grade carbon in the S-Works, which it calls FACT 12r. FACT, in case you’re wondering, is short for Functional Advanced Composite Technology and is the process the US company uses to develop its carbon frames.
What is fact 8r carbon?
FACT 8r carbon is used on our Base and Sport level bikes to keep them light and strong. FACT 9r carbon is used on Comp, Expert, and Pro level bikes. These frames are equipped with SWAT technology and are approximately 200g lighter than the 8r frame. The S-Works frame uses our highest level FACT 11r carbon.
How long will a carbon frame last?
Carbon composite based on epoxy resin shows a very long lifetime during fatigue testing, thus there’s no degradation of the composite over the lifetime of a bike. Only long-term strong UV exposition can harm the epoxy structure, but all our frames have a UV protective agent included in the final paint layer.
What is FACT carbon frame?
FACT, short for Functional Advanced Composite Technology, embodies our approach to carbon composites. It’s a comprehensive engineering process that guides the development of frames and components, all the way from initial sketches to finished products.
Do carbon seatposts make a difference?
By having a set spring rate, a heavier rider will enjoy a more comfortable ride, while a lighter rider will feel more vibration and big hits. Carbon seatposts also perform much better with more exposed seatpost (2x more flex), which hands the better performance to taller riders.
Do carbon fiber frames wear out?
Myth: A carbon frame won’t last as long as a metal one. Reality: As long as you don’t crash hard or take a hammer to the frame, a carbon bike can theoretically last forever. In fact, steel and aluminum last only so long before the metal fatigues and can no longer be used safely, but carbon remains stable indefinitely.
Can you cut seat posts?
A seat post can be shortened as long as the new size respects the minimum insertion length of the seat post. If you cut the seat post too much, you risk damaging the seat tube.
