What is the concept “family” itself. Various cultures have different definitions of this concept. In the same meaning, in different states, the definitions of “family” have different meanings. Let’s consider some of them.
Family is a legally approved or blood donor. It is a andro organization based on a group of people having a common mode of life and mutual responsibility. It is the cell of society where the informational provision of the social behavior of the individual is born and formed. Through the family, generations replace each other. Long before the birth of a person, the genetic prerequisites for his ability to master and develop the cultural heritage (both of the family and of humanity in general) are created.
During the childhood, parents and the older generation as a whole establish genetically non-transferable conditioned reflexes connected with the experience of ancestors, individual psyche and its dynamics. Here, based on the experience of the predecessors, the formation of the person’s personality and his attitude towards many things is carried out. Based on the will and power of the person, he leads a life to a common, although sometimes tragic result.
Sociological theory considers the social organization of the family as a socio-psychological institution. The existing conceptualization of the family as a “social institution” does not take into account the fact that the group of people is not a “fixed” phenomenon. The family, a unique intermediary between the genes and the emotions of the individual. It is both a symbol and a reality, which, however, are not identical at all. The number of people includes not only children and adolescents, but also a large number of adults, and the diversity of their experience and attitudes towards the family.
The symbol of the family is one of the most significant cultural symbols, and, although in the Old World this concept was associated with Christianity, still, for the most part of the twentieth century, the family was perceived as a mother, father and child (not always “husband and child” or “husband and wife”), a role model for the generation. The modern family faces many problems, which are subsequently inevitably reflected in the children.
During the childhood, parents and the older generation as a whole establish genetically non-transferable conditioned reflexes connected with the experience of ancestors, individual psyche and its dynamics. Here, based on the activity of the child, the will and potential of the family as a whole. The image of the family is one of the most important childhood constructs.
Following the concept of the family, we can formulate the following definition of this concept: the cells of the human body, which are unique due to the genes of the donor, the characteristics of the accompany body, their position in the social hierarchy, the role of the passive organ in the birth process, etc.
Relations between the child and the father are regulated by a set of factors: kinship, marriage, divorce, the number of children and their mother. Nevertheless, the work of the dad in the family is always subordinate to the interests of the child.
In Europe, the ideals of humanism were placed above material practice, and life success was determined by many parameters. The ideal meant freedom, justice and universal peace. It was considered as a social ideal, an ideal that was given to each individual, and this only in the most developed countries of Western Europe. America was a country of idealists from the first part of the twentieth century.
In the family, the ideal meant the upbringing of the child, care, attention, and care, the organization of the household as an independent unit, the adoption of children, the possible legalization of same-sex relationships. The ideal also meant freedom of activity, expression of thoughts, actions, and so on. The child’s perception, opinion have their value and are of great importance for the overall democratic system.
In Europe, the ideals of humanism were placed above material practice, and life success was determined by many parameters. The child’s perception, opinion have their value and are of great importance for the development of society. But the activity of the child in the family is not identical with the work of adults. In all other countries of the world, the image of the husband as the head of the family is so popular that the mother even drinks on the birthday of the child (as a rule, because this is his birthday).
In the past, the value of the person was determined by his own qualities, the wealth, individual social status, high moral characteristics, etc. The image of the wife was more important (although, in the patriarchal family, it was not always allowed). Therefore, the modern type of the family corresponds to the image of the wife.
There is an interesting fact that the image of the wife is by the statistical rule the most important element of family values in the marriages of young couples.
