What is the order of the sections on the SAT/how long is each section?

QUESTION
What is the order of the sections on the SAT/how long is each section?
So I have heard they are 25 minutes, but somewhere else I read that each section has a different time. I am doing my PSAT at home tomorrow and I want to know the time restrains. They way I can get an idea of how I will need to manage my time on the SAT’s. Please let me know ASAP!
Thanks!! Elisabeth

ANSWER
Hi Elisabeth,

The first section is always the Essay and it is 25 minutes long.

The second through seventh sections are also 25 minutes but they are randomly assigned. You will have 2 reading sections, 2 math sections, 1 writing grammar section, and 1 experimental section in that test span. The experimental section can be reading, math, or writing, but it is not scored. You will not find the experimental section in practice tests, either. Sections 8 and 9 are 20 minutes long and they are either math and reading or reading and math. The last section is 10 minutes long and is writing grammar.

The PSAT has a similar, but shorter format. You can compare the two in the table here: http://www.powerscore.com/sat/help/psat.cfm.

Good luck!
