What is the satcom system?
Satcom (which stands for “satellite communication”) was an artificial geo-stationary satellite that facilitated wide-area telecommunications by receiving radio signals from Earth, amplifying them, and relaying them back down to terrestrial receivers.
What does Satcom stand for in aviation?
A satellite data unit (SDU) is an avionics device installed in an aircraft that allows air/ground communication via a satellite network. It is an integral part of an aircraft’s SATCOM (satellite communication) system.
What is GVF training?
GVF training courses and certifications are the established global standard for satellite communications skills, covering operation, installation and maintenance of VSAT, marine, and mobile/SNG satellite terminals, in addition to general and specialized satcom theory.
Why do we have satcom?
The purpose of communications satellites is to relay the signal around the curve of the Earth allowing communication between widely separated geographical points. Communications satellites use a wide range of radio and microwave frequencies.
What frequency does SATCOM use?
Satellite Communication (satcom) is based on a specific range of frequencies. The useable radio spectrum ranges from 1Ghz to 300Ghz, where its use for communications ends as the signal becomes infrared, X-Ray and visible light. For maritime satcom, we use the frequencies from 1Ghz up to approx. 30Ghz.
Do you need SATCOM for Cpdlc?
Systems limited to U.S. domestic CPDLC DCL and en route do not require SATCOM capability. En route operations do require push-to-load capabilities. FANS 1/A+ data link operations in remote oceanic airspace are transmitted via SATCOM or VDL Mode 2 if within range of a VHF remote ground station.
What does Gvf stand for?

GVF | Gas Volume Fraction (multiphase flows) |
What is the GVF for VSAT?
As the first step towards GVF Satcom Professional Certification, GVF 510 teaches and evaluates the core skills that all VSAT field technicians must have – regardless of the type of equipment they install. Includes advanced interactive 3-D simulations.
Does SATCOM use UHF?
Narrowband satellite communications (SATCOM) in the ultra high frequency (UHF) band is an attractive option within the military SATCOM (MILSATCOM) community.
