What is hardox 400?
Hardox® 400 is an abrasion-resistant steel with a nominal hardness of 400 HBW. Hardox® 400 is an all-around wear resistant steel. Thanks to its high toughness, good bendability and weldability, this steel can be used in structures with moderate wear.
What is hardox 500?
Hardox® 500 is a bendable and weldable abrasion-resistant steel, with a nominal hardness of 500 HBW. Suitable for applications that demand higher wear resistance. Hardox® 500 increases payload and increases service life while maintaining good processability and toughness.
Can you heat treat hardox 450?
Hardox 450 and Hardox 450 Tuf are not intended for further heat treatment. Mechanical properties are achieved by quenching and when necessary by means of subsequent tempering. The properties of the delivery condition cannot be retained after exposure to temperatures in excess of 250 ºC .
What is Hardox made of?
Hardox Wear Plate is a very wear resistant steel plate, which is manufactured by SSAB and sold worldwide. As this steel wears very slowly even under heavy mechanical loads, it is used in many areas of industry.
Is hardox the same as AR500?
AR500 steel is exactly the same as Hardox 500 steel – it is simply a name. The crucial part is the 500 section as this dictates the Brinell hardness – this is what stops the bullet piercing the plate!
Can you machine hardox 450?
All Hardox® wear plate steel grades can be machined with high speed steel (HSS) or cemented carbide (CC) tools. This brochure contains our suggestions for cutting data (feeds and speeds) and the selection of tools. Other factors that should be taken into account in machining operations are also discussed.
Can hardox be laser cut?
All Hardox and Domex steels can be perfectly laser-cut because of their consistent steel properties, low thickness tolerances, outstanding flatness and surface finish, as well as low alloy and optimized chemical composition. The high steel quality also allows for smaller radii and ensures accurate results when bending.
