How long does a pen’s ink last?
If you use the pen frequently, the ink should last around a week. However, if you only use it sometimes, it will last around 6 months to a year at most. We recommend that you replace your ink cartridge every 6 months, as ink cartridges lose their quality between 6 and 9 months.
Are Herbin inks dry?
Herbin inks can be too light and very dry (I’m thinking of you, Rouille d’Ancre). These five inks flow quite well, though Corail des Tropiques was too watery for my taste. The 10ml bottles are a good size for sampling an ink.

How long does a 50ml bottle of ink last?
A 50ml bottle of fountain pen ink will last 1250 pages (A4) with a medium nib, 1000 pages with a broad nib, and 3200 pages with a fine nib. On average, you’ll get roughly 50 refills from each bottle, and depending on how much you write, you could use the same bottle for years.
Is J Herbin ink wet?
It is not water-proof or archival. This ink is generally a dark black, opaque, saturated ink, especially with a wet nib, but with a wide line you can see shading in the writing.
Is Herbin ink waterproof?
Many, many other inks show good water-resistance, including J. Herbin Perle Noire, Sailor Jentle Black, Sailor Jentle Blue…the list goes on.
How long will the ink stay on the paper?
When printed, pigment based ink are designed to be fade resistant for an estimate of up to 200 years. Dye based ink is fade-resistant up to 25-30 years. Properly storing photos can help them last longer.
